The Urban Botanist Joins the Speed of Sight Charity’s Inspire Club

19 Jan 2022

Here at The Urban Botanist, we’ve spent the last few years meticulously researching our products to bring you the best terrariums and ecospheres on the market! After falling in love with a plant terrarium at her aunt’s house in Canada, our founder Lucy established The Urban Botanist to bring these amazing products to the UK market and to make them available to British consumers. Now we’re proud to offer a huge selection of incredible open and closed terrariums and ecospheres, alongside a whole host of other gifts and accessories for all lovers of plants!

But we’re also eager to give back to our local communities and have been searching for the right opportunity to support a charity in their causes helping those who need it the most. Now we think we’ve found the perfect organisation to offer our support to!

Speed of Sight is a fantastic charity which operates all across North England and Wales. Speed of Sight host track days on one of their sister tracks, of which they currently have three, but that list will continue to grow! Right now, their sites are at Llandow Circuit, in North Wales, the Teesside Autodrome, and the Three Sisters Race Circuit, Wigan.

What’s incredible about Speed of Sight is that they use specially modified cars to allow access to their track days to anybody who has been told they will never drive due to any form of blindness, visual impairment, or disability. The cars come equipped with optional hand controls to replace the pedals and have dual controls to ensure complete safety! Every track experience is closely monitored by a fully qualified driving instructor who provides verbal directions and support during the drive.

This unbelievable organisation was founded by Mike Newman, known as the ‘Fastest Blind Man on the Planet’, who has a collection of world records for the fastest blind solo speeds on land and sea, and even one for blind acrobatics flying an aircraft! Now he wants every blind or disabled person to be able to experience the same thrills that he has.

We are so proud to support this wonderful charity and are thrilled to announce that we are joining their Inspire club! We look forward to supporting their causes and can’t wait until the next season of racing kicks off in 2022. See you on the racetrack, Speed of Sight!
