What Different Flower Symbolise, Pt 2

11 Feb 2022

Flowers and plant-based gifts can be fantastic for almost any occasion. But, as we saw last week, different flowers can have incredibly different symbolic meanings! So if you’re looking for the perfect flower gifts, check out part two of our extended list below to see what deeper meanings these popular flowers hold!

Coral Rose

These vibrant sunset-coloured roses symbolise friendship, modesty, and sympathy. This would be suitable to gift to someone who is going through a tough time, like those who need bereavement support. This will show that you are present and will be there for them whenever they need you.

Yellow Roses

There are two meanings to the yellow rose. Gifting it to a friend symbolises warmth and affection! However, gifting a yellow rose to a lover traditionally symbolises jealousy or infidelity. So be careful who you give this one too, or you might end up sending the wrong message!

Black Roses

Black roses are adored for their beautifully macabre aesthetic. These roses are at times used to symbolise death, and are a common sight at funerals. But black roses are also very often paired with gothic styles, whether furniture or fashion! These roses can even make wonderful Valentine’s Day gifts for the special goth in your life.

The delicate, symmetrical petals of cosmos traditionally symbolise order and harmony. Always a good choice to add to a bouquet of flowers, as their varied colour choices include different shades of pink, purple, red, and orange, giving you plenty of options to create unique and colourful creations with these beautiful flowers.

Calla Lily

Calla Lilies are simple yet elegant and, unsurprisingly, symbolise attraction. Calla Lilies make gorgeous and sophisticated Valentine’s Day gifts! Present a bouquet of these to your love interest or to your partner, it will always be appreciated.

The beautiful white lotus flower grows and blooms from the water and each night they return to the mud. They repeat this cycle every day. In many cultures the white Lotus flower symbolises rebirth, purity, and enlightenment. These unique and beautiful flowers last years, and make wonderful gifts for many occasions.
